An important witness who served with the unfortunate Manolis contacted the Angelika Nikoloulis show – Testimony about an unknown shooting

Six years have passed since the day Manolis Tsiknakis was found dead with a head wound while on duty on the island of Ro, with the Army General Staff announcing to the family that he committed suicide with the weapon he was carrying.

However, to this day his family believes he was murdered, with the show “Light in the Tunnel” presenting new evidence. The family’s technical advisers have gathered evidence that “indicated” criminal activity and are calling for the case to be reinvestigated. One of the facts is that he was hit from the right while he was left-handed.

Testimony of an unknown shooting
An important witness who served with the unfortunate Manolis contacted the show. He spoke of a first, as yet unknown, gunshot that was heard around 6:30 that morning on June 27, 2018, and of instructions he received soon after for specific actions. It gave information about unknown aspects of the case that open a new field of investigations.

The lawyer of the family, Alexandra Spanaki, requested that the evidence that has been brought to the attention of the competent Prosecutor be finally taken seriously and evaluated.

What does the family’s technical advisor say?
Yiannis Tsiampas, gunsmith and technical advisor of the family, spoke on the show about all the signs that point to homicide and not suicide. The shape and characteristics of the wound have not been caused by a long-barreled G3A3 weapon which is also the army’s weapon. It appears instead to be from a pistol. When someone is hit by such a weapon, massive damage to both the brain and the skull is created. Which is not the case in this particular case. But there was also not the characteristic flash hider impression that is the front of the G3A3.

But there was also not the characteristic flash hider impression that is the front of the G3A3.

The fact that Manolis was left-handed also raised additional questions. At the same time, they never received any of the 361 convictions listed in the case file.

The medical examiner Elpida Spanoudaki, who was appointed as a technical consultant by the family of the unfortunate infantryman, was also a catalyst. Taking into account the picture described by the doctor who examined the body, as well as the testimony of the soldier who volunteered, stating that his eyes were gray in color (and ants on the body), she estimated that death occurred at least 4 hours earlier.

“I never believed that my Manolis committed suicide”
His mother appeared visibly shocked. “We experienced moments that cannot be described in words. I never believed that my Manolis committed suicide. I knew my child. Acquaintances and friends advised us to appoint technical consultants to find the edge and we are finding it”, he says,

“Our life has changed. Every night when the front door closes, Manolis is absent. He is high with the angels. He went to serve the country and my country brought him back dead. The general called us and bluntly and coldly informed me that my son had committed suicide. But all the evidence we found points to the opposite. My son was shot with a small gun,” says his father.

“They pointed out to us another spot than the one where he was found dead”
The sister of the unfortunate young man spoke to “Tunel” saying: “During the time when Manolis was preparing to become a soldier, we often talked about the things that troubled him and the things that made him laugh, the things he was making fun of in the army. We talked a lot. Manolis wanted to go to Ro. There went an executive who was stricter and more formal.”

The sister and mother of the unfortunate Manolis went to the spot on the rock island where he breathed his last.

“There was an officer and he gave us a description. In particular, he pointed out the wrong point for me. After some time with a cooler look, I thought that the way he presented them to us, the representation he made us could not correspond to the truth. Manolis was killed by someone else,” says his sister and wants to know who did it and why.

“Manolis did not kill himself”
The soldier who was in the same line as the young soldier who lost his life on the islet of Ro also spoke on the show.
“The climate changed when the new senior duty officer came. He constantly raised alarms and tried to bring us to his standards, putting a lot of pressure on us. We were an infantry unit, not special forces. Manolis was cheerful and because of his humor we got closer.”

On that fateful morning they were called out for report.

“We, the soldiers, gathered in front of the chambers, except for Manolis and the other who was in the guardhouse with him. I asked what had happened but no one knew, no one heard a shot. After a while, a boat entered the harbor, driven by a sergeant and inside were the lieutenant commander and the doctor.”

The witness added that when the executives arrived at the pier, they ran up to Mati where the guard was and he followed, taking the stretcher.

“When I reached the top, I saw the lieutenant giving a hand to Manolis. I stood over his corpse which was with the head turned to the left and the entrance wound from the right. His eyes were gray. When I heard that a bullet had gone through his head I couldn’t believe it. It’s impossible not to hear a shot from G3A3. Here we hear the mice walking… Manolis was killed with a pistol.”

“We feel angry because they are blocking our investigation”
“I had the nerve two months later to go to the scene of the incident. They were all in a good mood to do whatever we asked of them. There I saw lies everywhere. The craziest thing is that they described an injury to me from the left side, while Manolis had been hit from the right,” says the mother of the unfortunate young man.

“Manolis was left-handed, but they didn’t know that. Significantly, his appearance was rotten. It was as if he had been dead for several hours.”

According to Manolis’ mother, the eyeglasses were the only thing they were given after the incident.

“I was impressed that one lens was missing. In the case file, we saw that they described that a few meters away from the child, his glasses and hat were found, without any trace of gunpowder or blood. Most likely he was hunted.”

As the soldier’s father reports, the conditions of the soldiers changed when a new lieutenant went to Ro.

“The evidence we have is overwhelming and the investigation should continue to find out who killed him. You understand our anger, and my anger as a father, that they would block the investigation of a child they brought dead.”
