Permanent recruitment in the State Orchestra of Athens – The distribution

The notice for permanent recruitment at the Athens State Orchestra, supervised by the Ministry of Culture.

In particular, the announcement concerns filling four vacant organic positions of permanent artistic staff.

Recruitment will be carried out through competitions that will be held in Athena at a venue to be determined with a later announcement by the Athens State Orchestra. As the start date of the tenders is set for Monday, January 22, 2024.

The winners of the competitions they will be asked to submit all the legal supporting documents that will be requested in writing from the Department of Human Resources Management of the Ministry of Culture.

Allocation of seats

The jobs are distributed as follows:

1. One position of 2nd Class Exarchons.
2. One 3rd Category (Top A’) place in Second Violins.
3. One position of 5th Class Musician in Trumpets.
4. One position of 5th Class Musician in Horns

Qualifications required

Candidates must:

1. As to nationality

• To be Greek citizens or
• Citizens of member states of the European Union or
• Northern Epirotians, Cypriot expatriates as well as expatriate foreigners coming from Istanbul and from the islands of Imbro and Tenedos, as well as expatriates from Egypt, without requiring a certificate of Greek citizenship, provided that their status as Greek by birth and conscience is proven with other ways
• Those who acquired Greek citizenship through naturalization are also eligible to be candidates.

2. To have completed the 21st year of their age or, in the case of musicians of recognized talent, their 15th year of age
3. To have the health and physical fitness required to perform the duties of their position

4. Yes they are not hindered by a criminal conviction or sub-litigation or injunctive or ancillary relief.

Examinable content

The material to be examined by instrument family and category of artistic personnel is defined as follows:

For the position 2nd Class Exarchs:

1. One of the BRAHMS, SIBELIUS, TCHAIKOVSKY concertos (complete).
2. MOZART: One of the concertos No. 3 (in G), No. 4 (in D), No. 5 (in A), the 1st part with Cadenza.
3. BACH: The 1st (slow) movement of one of the 3 solo violin sonatas.
4. Excerpts from orchestral works.
5. Prima vista

For the position Top A’ 3rd Category in Second Violins:

1. One of the BRAHMS, SIBELIUS, TCHAIKOVSKY concertos, the 1st part with Cadenza.
2. MOZART: One of the concertos No. 3 (in G), No. 4 (in D), No. 5 (in A), the 1st part with Cadenza and the 2nd part.
3. Excerpts from orchestral works.
4. Prima vista.

For the position 5th Class Musician in Trumpets:

1. HAYDN or HUMMEL: Concerto in E flat. major 1st part.
2. Excerpts from orchestral works
3. Prima vista.

For the position of Musician 5th Class in Horns:

1. HAYDN: Concerto in D major. the whole.
2. MOZART: Concerto no. 3 KV 477 or Concerto no. 4 KV 495, the 1st part with Cadenza.
3. Excerpts from orchestral works.
4. Prima vista.

Submission of applications

Interested parties are invited to submit or mail to proof to the State Orchestra of Athens (1 Kokkali and Vas. Sofias, 11521, Athens) application on a special form, which can be obtained from the service. With the application, the candidate is required to submit his CV, as well as any another element that may contribute to depiction of artistic personality and ability his.
