The “ELPIDA” Prevention Center launched today his new building at 10 Hesiodou Street at New Fountainto municipality of Kalamaria.
“I’m happy because I see the progress. I see and compare. And this is the most important thing we have to do, to see how we were a while ago and how we are today. Today we inaugurate the new building of the ELPIDA Prevention Center, in the area of Nea Krini, where there is a great need to upgrade it. Here we built the ramps and sidewalks a few months ago, here we continue with humanitarian, cultural projects I would call them and not just infrastructure. These are projects that show that Kalamaria supports vulnerable groups and above all prevention, which will help our whole society not to live in bad conditions, but to prevent them”, stressed the mayor of Kalamaria, Yiannis Dardamanelis, in his speech. who congratulated both the president of the Center, Betty Semakula, and the workers for the work they are doing.
The new space includes two large rooms for groups of twenty people each, a smaller one for ten people, a consultation room, offices, WC for the disabled, while it is accessible to everyone.
“We are here alive, ready, because that’s what hope is, a living cell that gives life, multiplies, self-regulates, adapts. We look forward to the next day. Because we want to serve the local community, that’s why the prevention centers were built. We are ready for any challenge. We are committed, and I as the president, that we will continue to serve consistently and as efficiently as possible”, said the president of the “ELPIDA” Prevention Center, Betty Semakula, who did not fail to thank the people who worked voluntarily to complete the project and be ready to welcome those in need of mental health. It is worth noting that the ELPIDA Prevention CENTER has been standing next to students, parents and teachers, alongside the people of the army and the security forces, for 25 years and is supported by the Municipalities of Kalamaria, Pylaia-Hortiatis, Thermi and Thermaikos.
The inauguration of the Center was attended by the MPs of Thessaloniki, Dimitris Kouvelas and Katerina Notopoulou, the Deputy Regional Mayor of Thessaloniki, Voula Patoulidou, the Deputy Mayors, Natalia Pantelidou, Ioannis Penopoulos, Stelios Matsaridis, Paschalis Lemonis and municipal councilors.
