The news of the dowry may be imaginary distant past, however, there is a municipality in Greece that gives a dowry to young girls. The reason for him Municipality of Megareowho decided to give a dowry to young women, with priority given to those who are orphans.
More specifically, for the current year 2023, an endowment will be made to 10 women of the Municipality of Megareo. The amount of the endowment reaches 500 euros and deposited in the bank account of the women beneficiaries after its presentation notarial deed marriage.
Women have the right to apply for participation annual income of which does not exceed 5,712 euros and they have no property status. Candidates for the dowry should, still, be unmarried at the time of application, aged 15-40 (born in the years 1983-2008) and be mayors of Municipality of Megareo. If the above conditions are met, priority will be given to orphaned women.
Applications for the participation of interested parties are submitted to the Mayor’s Office by Tuesday, November 7, 2023 to Thursday, December 7, 2025.
As the Municipality of Megareon states in its announcement, the endowment is made in memory and in accordance with the wishes of Athanasios Styl. Gini, who years ago donated some properties to the Municipality. The Municipality, after a series of procedures, sold these properties and with the money and interest as well as through the “Gini Foundation”, managed to collect the necessary amount for the endowment.

- Application for participation provided to the Municipality of Megareo
- Photocopy of police ID
- Certificate of marital status (you do not have to present it, it is requested ex officio by the service)

- Bank statement of the last two years of the girl concerned and the parents

For young women aged 15-18
- Application for participation provided to the Municipality of Megareo and submitted by the parent
- Photocopy of police ID
- Certificate of marital status (you do not have to present it, it is requested ex officio by the service)
- Certificate of permanent residence
- Statement of account for the last two years of the minor’s parents
- E9 of the minor’s parents
