Matthew Perry’s girlfriend Athena Crosby – who was one of the last people seen with him before he died on October 28 – revealed days ago that she wanted the 36-year-old ‘High School Musical’ actor to star in his film.
“He had worked with Zac Efron before on a film and said he wanted him to play a younger version of him. [του εαυτού του] and that she would soon ask him to do it,” he told “Entertainment Tonight.” However, sources wanted Zac Efron to refuse the offer.
Crombie added: “He was just looking forward to sharing more about his story and his recovery from addiction and really championing this cause to help more people, so he was so upbeat and happy about everything he wanted to do.”
The “Friends” actor reportedly expressed his desire to be played by Efron.
Zac Efron’s answer
The “Friends” actor reportedly expressed his desire to be played by Efron in a biopic about his life. The famous actor kindly responded to the version of playing Matthew Perry on the big screen.
“I’m honored to hear that he was considering me to play him,” he told People at the premiere of his movie “The Iron Claw” on Wednesday, Nov. 8. He added: “We’ll see. It would be my honor to do so.” Efron, who co-starred with Perry in “17 Again,” also said, “He was a mentor to me and we made a really cool movie together.”
And then he said: “I admired him, I learned comic timing from this guy. I mean, when we were shooting ’17 Again’ it was so surreal for me to look across the street and see him there, because I learned so much from him, from his whole life.”
Recall that in the 2009 film, Efron plays the younger version of Perry’s character, Mike O’Donnell.
