European shares were flat in early trade today, with investors waiting statements by the head of the American central bank (Fed) Jerome Powell in the late afternoon.
The pan-European STOXX 600 index was unchanged at 10:10 Greek time.
Shares in AstraZeneca rose 1.6% after it revised up its full-year profit forecast and reported better-than-expected third-quarter profit and revenue.
In contrast, Flutter shares plunged 8.3% as the world’s largest online betting company expects its annual profit to be at the lower end of the forecast range it has already announced, which sent the travel and leisure sector down by 2.2%.
