From today, Tuesday (7/11), the 12 new ones cameras who settled in central parts of Athens, with the aim of controlling it movement at dedicated bus lanes.
These cameras, which will operate on weekdays and Saturdays from 06:00 in the morning until 16:00 in the afternoon, will record the violation and at the same time will detect the speed limit violation with the summons being sent to the offenders’ homes.
THE confirmation and recording of violations will be done with radar and simultaneous photography of the vehicles.
The fine, according to ERT, for each violation is 200 euros.
Where will they settle?
- Vasilissis Sofias Avenue: Five cameras
- Kifisias Avenue: One camera
- Mesogeion Avenue: Three cameras
- Alexandra Avenue: Three cameras
How the system will work
The OASA will deliver to the Traffic Directorates at regular intervals, encrypted material that will be taken from the new digital cameras, so that the competent bodies can confirm and send the violations.
The speed control system (radar – camera) will operate on a 24-hour basis placed in a pole-cabin (chamber) and will control the speed of all passing vehicles. The vehicle that violates the A.L.L. it will be recorded and captured in the photo.
The photo will also show:
- movement speed,
- the point/lane of the offense,
- the direction,
- the date,
- the time as well as any element deemed necessary to document the violation.
