At noon on Sunday, the 33-year-old driver of the fatal car, which carried away the 53-year-old grandfather who had his daughter’s baby in his arms, when he went to cross Iasonos Street, at the height of the pedestrian street of Antonopoulos, was taken to the hospital.
The 33-year-old requested and received a deadline to apologize, a request that was accepted and thus he will apologize on Tuesday, November 7. Until his apology, he is detained, while he may be transferred to the Hospital because of his injury (broken arm and other injuries).
The charge against him is dangerous driving – there is a witness who testified that he saw the rider of the motorcycle maneuvering on Iasonos Street, long before he reached the fatal point of the traffic accident – and based on the new PC and Article 290 paragraph d .if death results, the charge is a felony.
The driver was tested for alcohol consumption, but the results are expected to come out tomorrow, Monday.

According to ERT, the young driver claimed to the competent investigator that he maneuvered to avoid the 53-year-old who was thrown in front of him, as a result of which he was swept away, lost control of the machine, overturned and crashed into a parked vehicle. He was left injured on the asphalt, while the machine without the rider continued for another 70-100 meters from the scene of the tragic incident.
The 53-year-old was found on the road dragged by the machine and the baby too, hitting the skull.
In the sudden and tragic event, the parents of the unfortunate infant and his grandmother were also present, who, seeing this tragedy unfold before her eyesthrew himself into the street, took the infant in his arms and a passing taxi, stopping to see what was happening, took them to the Volos Hospital.
Scenes of an ancient tragedy took place in the hospital, the mobilization was immediate and massive from the point of view of medical staff of all specialties (neurosurgeon, anesthesiologist, etc.) in order to offer all possible help to the 4-month-old infant, but unfortunately he succumbed to his injuries, a little hour before midnight, despite the superhuman efforts made.
