On Tuesday, the 33-year-old driver apologizes for the tragic accident with the victim of a 4-month-old infant

He was taken to the investigator today at noon the 33-year-old driver of the fatal machinewhere carried away a 53-year-old grandfather who had his daughter’s 4-month-old baby in his arms, at the time he went to cross Iasonos Street – at the height of the pedestrian street of Antonopoulos – on Saturday night.

The 33-year-old requested and received a deadline to apologizea request that was accepted and thus will be excused on Tuesday, November 7th.

Until his apology, he is detained, while he may be transferred to the Hospital because of his injury (broken arm and other injuries).

The charge against him is dangerous driving – there is a witness who testified that he saw the rider of the motorcycle maneuvering on Iasonos Street, long before he reached the fatal point of the traffic accident – and based on the new PC and Article 290 paragraph d .if death results, the charge is a felony. The driver was tested for alcohol consumption, but the results are not yet known.

The young driver claimed today to the competent investigator that he maneuvered to avoid the 53-year-old who jumped in front of him, as a result of which he was swept away, lost control of the machine, overturned and crashed into a parked vehicle. He was left injured on the asphalt, while the machine without the rider continued for another 70-100 meters from the scene of the tragic incident.

The shocking thing about the traffic accident is that the 53-year-old grandfather was sitting with his wife in a restaurant on Antonopoulou Street. After a while, his daughter, son-in-law and his 4-month-old granddaughter arrived. So, wanting to help, he crossed Iasonos Street, took the baby without its stroller and tried to return the same way, crossing Iasonos at the height of Antonopoulou.

The 53-year-old was found on the road dragged by the machine and the baby too, hitting the skull. In the sudden and tragic event, the parents of the unfortunate infant and his grandmother were also present, who, seeing this tragedy unfold before her eyes, threw herself into the street, took the infant in her arms and a passing taxi stopped to see what was happening, transfers to the Volos Hospital, where the mobilization was immediate and massive from the point of view of medical personnel of all specialties (neurosurgeon, anesthetist, etc.) in order to offer all possible help to the infant, but unfortunately he succumbed to his injuries, a short time before the midnight, despite the superhuman efforts made.

The family of the unfortunate infant’s parents and grandparents, unfazed by the unspeakable tragedy, received the care and psychological support of specialized hospital staff, while the grandfather received medical care as he has broken ribs.
