--

The new Corsa will become the first model of the German manufacturer to be offered with 48V hybrid drive technology.

The renewed Opel Corsa it’s here, available to order at the brand’s showrooms. The popular supermini – first selling model on the Greek market in 2023 – it will be available from the first quarter of 2024 and in 48V hybrid versions. Also, the Corsa Electric it now becomes more powerful, with an improved battery that allows a range of up to 405 km, according to the WLTP standard.

The small best seller is already in Opel showrooms throughout Greece, where interested customers can get to know it up close and drive it. The prices of the new Corsa start from €17,900 for the 75 hp Edition 1.2 with manual transmission.

‘Bold & Pure’ design with Opel Vizor for the new Corsa

Perfect proportions and unique precision down to the smallest detail, with a ‘Bold & Pure’ design – this is the new Opel Corsa. The designers gave the small best seller an even more modern and stylish character. Its most striking feature is undoubtedly the Opel Vizor, the brand’s distinctive design signature that now adorns all new Opel models. The black grille covers the front of the Corsa and perfectly integrates the grille, LED headlights and the centrally placed Opel Blitz, forming a single whole. Depending on the equipment level, the brand logo, both front and rear, is printed in striking black or matte satin. The prominent air intakes low in the front bumper are larger and more impressive than before, further emphasizing the Corsa’s dynamic personality on the road.

The side view of the new Corsa is equally impressive, thanks to its distinctive design lines. Due to the strong inclination of the C-pillar, the roof (which is available in black depending on the equipment version) seems to “float”. The rear also delivers a clean look: the ‘CORSA’ badge now appears in the center of the tailgate. The launch color Grafik Grey, available for the first time on the Corsa, lends even more prestige to the new model.

The design of the new cockpit

Thanks to its many new features, the Corsa reflects a modern air of well-being inside. A new pattern on the seat covers and gear lever, a new steering wheel design, all contribute to this atmosphere. However, the impressions – both aesthetically and technologically – are won by the fully digital cockpit with the new infotainment system. Qualcomm Technologies’ integrated Snapdragon Cockpit platform features upgraded graphics, multimedia and artificial intelligence (AI) features, offering a more comprehensive and up-to-date content that continuously gathers information from the environment and evolves to successfully respond to passenger preferences.

Just like in the last generation Astra, the philosophy of “detox to the max” has been adopted here too, with the navigation system offering connected services, natural speech recognition with the command “Hey Opel” and updates over -the-air. In addition, the display of information from the navigation and multimedia systems on the 10-inch color touchscreen, as well as on the driver information screen, has become even sharper, so that all important information is visible in fractions of a second. Another comfort element of the new Opel Corsa is the ability to wirelessly connect a compatible smartphone to the multimedia system via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as the ability to charge it wirelessly.

Luminaires with Intelli-Lux LED matrix technology with 14 LED elements

In 2019, the Corsa introduced Intelli-Lux LED® matrix adaptive anti-glare lighting technology to the small car segment, demonstrating Opel’s mission to make innovations available to everyone. The engineers are constantly working on further development and the new Corsa is proof of this commitment. A total of 14 individual LED elements ensure a bright driving experience by adjusting the light beam more precisely than before, so as not to blind other road users.

The new Corsa is equipped with many more state-of-the-art assistance systems that make driving more relaxing and safer, such as the side protection system and the new high-resolution panoramic reversing camera. Many of these electronic aids are included as standard equipment, such as forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian recognition, lane keep assist, road sign recognition, driver fatigue recognition and rear park pilot.

Corsa Electric with improved battery and new electric motor

The new Corsa Electric offers more options, more power, an improved battery and longer range. Prospective customers can choose between two purely electric powertrains: a new electric motor, with an output of 115 kW/156 hp and a range of up to 405 km, as well as the proven 100 kW/136 hp option with an improved range value of up to 357 km (WLTP2). The torque of 260Nm, available from a standstill, gives high levels of driving pleasure to both versions of the Corsa Electric. Both powertrains achieve a top speed of 150 km/h (electronically limited), while 0-100 km/h takes just 8.1 seconds (8.7 seconds for the 100kW/136hp version). Even when the electric Corsa needs recharging, it means a short “pit stop” at a charging station. The battery of the new Corsa Electric can charge up to 80% of its capacity in less than 30 minutes at a 100kW direct current (DC) fast charging station. In addition to the built-in 7.4kW charger, an optional 11kW three-phase charger is also available. Opel also offers the Universal charger, for connection to almost all types of domestic or industrial supplies, as well as public charging stations throughout the country.

In addition, the new Opel Corsa will be the first model from the German manufacturer to be offered with 48V hybrid drive technology. The system includes a lithium-ion battery and a 1.2 lt petrol engine, producing either 74 kW/100 hp or 100 kW/136 hp, which is combined with an electronic dual-clutch transmission and an electric motor. Depending on driving conditions, the petrol engine and electric motor work together or separately to optimize energy consumption and performance. Compared to corresponding non-electric versions, the new Corsa Hybrid can save around 15% in fuel consumption. The system offers advantages, especially in city traffic. In urban areas, up to 50% of driving time can be covered with zero emissions.
