The prices of solar water heaters increased after the announcement of the subsidy, according to a survey by the Union of Consumer Workers of Greece.

The association says in a statement that it carried out a sample survey, using a sample of 60 products and 56 different online stores, in order to find out if there are any increases in the prices of the products after the start of the solar water heater subsidy.

The association points out that the online stores that were the sample of the research were selected at random and represent 60 products, so that the conclusions can be drawn with greater objectivity, while the announcement states: “We hope that the results of the investigation will act as a springboard for improving the climate of market”.

The first part of the survey was carried out from October 10, 2022 to November 10, 2022 and during the second part of the survey, which was carried out from May 10, 2023 to May 11, 2023, the prices of online stores were reviewed to determine if there are at what rate, modifications in product prices.

The survey was completed on October 18, 2023 at which time the prices in the online stores were reviewed to draw the final conclusions.

The most important statistical results obtained are as follows:

– On May 10, 2023, a price increase is observed in 50% of the products, while on October 18, 2023, a price increase is observed in 61.66% of the products

– The highest percentage increase reaches 78.81% while the smallest is 1.94%

– On May 10, 2023, the average increase of the products that saw an upward price is 14.09%, while on October 18, 2023, the average increase is 17.82%.
