Great mobilization of EL.AS. after an ATM explosion in Nikaia Larissa
There was a disturbance in Nikaia of Kilelere Municipality in Larissa, when a deafening explosion was heard after 2 midnight.
According to larissanet.gr, an alarm was sounded from that time, while the explosion took place at an ATM of the National Bank.
Strong police forces are at the scene of the incident, while at this time it is being investigated, on the one hand, whether an amount of money has been stolen and its amount, as well as the way the perpetrators acted and escaped.
How they do the “injections” of gas in ATMs
The Plofkraak method was first used by Romanian ATM burglars, as they found it to be less risky than knocking inside a bank. This method seems to be copied by other robbers.
Perpetrators attach gas cylinders to watering cans or other special hoses. They place one end of the rubber band into the ATM slot from which the money comes out. The other end is connected to the bottle.
They then turn on the gas valve and channel it inside the ATM. Their final step is to detonate, usually with electrical wires stuck to the tire and stripped at the ends. Ignition caused through the wires (with the help of a battery) results in an explosion.
