Three more assassination attempts were made against Alexis Mavromichalis, in 2004, 2008 and 2015.

Mrs. Constantinou stated that the perpetrator was probably hiding in an open area, near the apartment building where the victim lived.

Shortly after the murderous attack, a vehicle which had been declared stolen was found on fire at the exit to Kotsiatis, a short distance from the Nicosia – Limassol highway.

Authorities do not rule out the possibility that the car is connected to the incident.

The perpetrators of the murder of Thanasis Kalogeropoulos had taken a similar action on Monday morning, with the Police investigating whether the two incidents are connected.

Police Chief Stelios Papatheodorou described the fact that a second murder was committed within 48 hours as extremely worrying.

In statements from the crime scene in Strovolos, Mr. Papatheodorou said there was no information about new bloodshed and that efforts were focused on solving the two crimes.

He confirmed the information that a shell casing has been found at the crime scene.
