Premeditated murder was committed around 9 last night, in Nicosia, with the victim Alexis Mavromichalis, 45 years old from Nicosia, as announced by the Police.
According to a police statement, following information about shots being fired in an area of Nicosia, members of the Police went to the scene for examinations, while the 45-year-old was taken by ambulance to the General Hospital of Nicosia, where he succumbed to his injuries, around 00:20 this morning.
The TAE of Nicosia continues the exams.
According to the Phileleftheros newspaper:
The attempted murder of Alexis Mavromichalis, also known as Alexoui, by the perpetrator who set up a cartel shortly after 9:30 last night turned into murder.
Despite the efforts of the doctors, it seems that the one and only bullet hit Mavromichalis’ vital organs, who suffered a penetrating wound to the chest.
The investigators are faced with two murders in less than 48 hours and it is now being seriously considered whether the new crime is connected to the one against Thanasis Kalogeropoulos on the beach avenue of Limassol.
From the evidence and testimonies that the authorities have so far, Alexoui received the bullet while he was on the balcony of the apartment on the second floor of the apartment building in which he lives in the Acropolis.
Specialists of the Criminal Investigations Service are looking for the location of the perpetrator who, after all, it is possible that he stayed in a space at street level and fired with a heavy weapon.
The investigators of the TAE Nicosia are convinced that the vehicle found burning shortly after the assassination attempt against Mavromichalis is connected to the crime. Investigations revealed that this had been reported stolen.
