The Heraklion station on Metro line 1 closes at noon
The ISAP station in Neo Heraklion will remain closed from 14:00 at noon today.
By order of ELAS, trains will pass through Neos Heraklion station without stopping. The station will reopen with a newer command within the day.
Already today from 06:00 in the morning the ban has come into force of every public gathering in Attica, on the occasion of the completion of ten years since murder of the two members of the Golden Dawn. Despite the ban, gatherings and counter-gatherings have been planned and for this reason EL.AS. has taken draconian measures in the area of Neos Heraklion.
The ban will be in effect until 06:00 on Thursday morning, and was imposed because “there is a serious risk to public safety, due to the possible commission of serious crimes, in particular against life, bodily integrity and property, from holding assemblies and ” anti-gatherings” by groups of opposing positions”, according to EL.AS.
In addition, the same police announcement stated, “there is a serious threat of disruption of socio-economic life, both in the areas where gatherings have been announced, and in the other areas of the prefecture of Attica, where similar gatherings are likely to take place, as well as the simultaneous presence in a climate of polarization concentrated groups”.
