London awaits the opening of the passage for foreign nationals to escape from the Gaza Strip

According to reliable reports from the British Foreign Office cited by the BBC and Skynews, the border crossing at Rafah, the point that connects Gaza with Egypt, may be opened today.

A UK Foreign Office spokesman said: “As the Prime Minister and Foreign Secretary have said, the safety of British nationals remains our top priority.

We are working closely with Egypt and Israel to ensure that all British nationals can exit via the Rafah crossing or other routes as soon as possible.

Intensive diplomacy is underway over the weekend – including with Israel and Egypt.”

Israel’s Western allies are pushing for the crossing to be opened to allow foreigners to leave Gaza as fighting intensifies across the region.
