The movement of the citizens of Paros for the free beaches continues the struggle – More than 650 people were today in Monastir, on an excursion as they called it but the meaning was much deeper.

See posts as well as photos and videos from Sunday 13/8 at Monastiri beach of Paros.

“After the 4th big meeting

Around 700 excursionists!

Time 8.30 we have just returned from the big event in the Park of Paros, there on the beach it is completely and illegally occupied by beds and armchairs. There were very short informative speeches in the theater and then a protest in front of the seats. Officials of the Citizens’ Movement, the President of the “Friends of Paros” Association Giorgos Vlantas and the President of the Park for 10 years Elisavet Papazoi spoke. In particular, the fact that the president of the Municipal Council, Mrs. Christina Daferrera, was present, spoke and was applauded. The Prefect of Paros and Kostas Rokonidas did not want to talk about saving time. The managers of the business had pulled the armchairs 5 meters from the wave and had emptied part of the beach. They know the law, but they don’t follow it, they don’t know how to make friends with the local people. We will have more news and other photos in other posts and probably the coming week might be a week of surprises.”

“More than 650 people were today in the Monastery, claiming that this place of rare beauty will become the place of culture and respect for the environment, which the founders of the Paros Environmental Park and the people who love the island, had once envisioned! The beach, from a furniture exhibition, was flooded with life for a few hours

It’s time for the state to put an end to those who mock it and its citizens to the face, selling goods that do not belong to them, selling our own breath! The Citizens’ Movement will continue the struggle, until its just demands are vindicated…”
