While he was in the outdoor parking lot of the apartment building carrying out work on a well, a tenant in a silver farm car entered the area, did not notice the 57-year-old and then fatally injured him and drove him away with her vehicle.
His son bids farewell to his unfortunate father with a touching text: “Dad, you were the best man. My best friend. I hope that God will make me worthy to look at least like a man and a father to you. You were our support. Thank you for everything! I will always honor you through my actions. Good heaven, because that’s where you definitely belong, my fisherman.”
The 59-year-old woman got out of the car and when she realized what had happened she started screaming, seeing the unfortunate worker trapped under the car.
“I can’t understand how it happened”
According to the Star news report, the driver of the vehicle reportedly told the officers: “I cannot understand what happened and how this tragedy happened. I got out of the car and I couldn’t believe what I saw!”
EKAV rescuers and the Fire Department immediately arrived at the scene, but for the man who worked in the apartment building it was already too late. “In order to be able to extricate the man, the car had to be raised.
The unfortunate man was pinned underneath and the car could not be moved. Three fire engines with special tools also came so we could extricate him,” one of the rescuers told the Star.
The 59-year-old driver was taken to the public prosecutor and released with restrictive conditions.
