In a direct trial before the Permanent Criminal Court, which will meet in Paphos on April 11, the 23-year-old suspect, who has been in custody since March 11 for the two investigated cases of armed kiosk robberies committed in the early hours of March 8 and 10 on the avenue Archbishop Makariou, in Chloraka.
According to the Police Director of Paphos, Nikos Tsapis, the suspect was referred to a direct trial before the Criminal Court, which will meet on 11/4/23. The Court ordered that the 23-year-old remain in custody until the start of his trial.
The two robberies were committed in the morning hours on the above dates, in the same kiosk, in the presence of the same employee and in the same expensive manner. The robber approached the cash register, displayed a pistol which he had strapped to his waist and managed to extract €700, €300 the first time and €400 the second time, it is reported.
On March 11, the Police, after evaluating information and pursuant to a court warrant, conducted a search of the 23-year-old’s apartment, which is located in close proximity to the kiosk. Hidden in a megaphone, TAE members located a dummy gun believed to be the one used in the two robberies, a black hoodie and black gloves. An amount of €195 found in the suspect’s possession, a pair of shoes and black clothes were also seized as evidence.
The young man still denies any involvement in the two armed robberies.
