Unprecedented tragedy in Indonesia, after the match between Arema and Persebaya. From the sad incidents that took place between fans of the two teams, more than 80 people lost their lives, as reported by the international media, some of which – such as the British Daily Star – speak of at least 100 dead.

Among the dead are children, in addition to the fans and policemen who lost their lives, according to local media. With the final whistle and while Arema had been defeated 2-3, fans entered the “Kanjuruhan Stadium” pitch and clashed with the police authorities.

Police used tear gas to stop the fans, hundreds of whom fainted and passed out.

What followed was horrifying, the clashes were violent, and two police vehicles were burnt to the ground. Hand-to-hand fighting continued outside the field, with several people losing their lives. In addition to the dead, the media are talking about more than 100 injured, some of them more seriously.

In the wake of the tragic incidents, the soccer league announced the suspension of the Indonesian league for a week, with the president of the federation, Ahmad Hadian Lukita, announcing that an investigation would be conducted to find those responsible for the incredible incidents.
