DEYAD issued the following announcement regarding the report by “P” on the water bills received by citizens:
Western Achaia: The water sets fires in the plain – Excruciating three-year bills to the citizens
“In today’s (21/9) edition, the newspaper “Peloponnisos” on its front page highlights the case of fellow resident Chr. Georgopoulou from Niforeika who received a three-year (2018-2020) water bill for a volume of 3,699 m2. and worth 1,424 euros, at the end of 2021 and not today. This is really a lot of consumption and a corresponding charge.
By the way, a clarification is due. The total debts of citizens to DEVIAD that exceed 1,000 euros amount to 7.6% of all the company’s customers. Therefore, “the plain is not sighing”, nor are we “sharing brains” and other related things that are mentioned in related reports.
But let’s come to the specific case. The previous measurement on the specific water meter for the three-year period 2018-20 yielded a consumption of 3,699 cubic meters. The next measurement, for the year 2021, yielded a consumption of 283 cubic meters. both measurements were made with photographic display of the hydrometer according to the new counting system.
Regarding the objection of Mr. Georgopoulos, it is a fact that its examination has been delayed. This is due to the large volume of complaints and the limited capabilities of the service in terms of personnel, but also because the service examines each complaint with the procedures provided by the water supply regulation and in a documented manner (cross-checking of data, autopsies and new measurements). In any case, however, within the next quarter, the examination of all objections that have been submitted will be completed since this process has already begun.
In the newspaper’s front page report it is noted that “the paralysis of previous years is being paid for today”. The observation is accurate and the fight to recover DEYAD from paralysis is continuous and already bringing results.
Today DEYAD has turned the page and issues accounts, (2021 accounts are already issued and distributed) with the aim of moving to the regular issue of accounts every six months. At the same time, faced with the financial difficulties of consumers, it established repayment arrangements that reach 60 installments, a new tariff policy is being prepared for 2023, but also the establishment of a social tariff for socially weak consumers for the first time.
The fight for a healthy DEVIAD at the service of all citizens will continue to be fought consistently and effectively”.
