Gold closed with gains today, however, on a weekly basis, the precious metal recorded significant losses.
Gold for December delivery gained $6.20, or 0.4%, to settle at $1,683.50 an ounce, a day after losing 1.9% to its lowest level since April of 2020. On a weekly basis, gold is down 2.6%, according to Dow Jones Market Data.
Silver for delivery added 11 cents, or 0.6%, to $19.381 an ounce on Friday, having gained 3.3% for the week.
In other metals, platinum for October delivery fell 0.3% to $901 an ounce, but on the week gained 2.8%, while palladium saw the contract for December delivery lose 1.6% to 2,112.70 dollars an ounce, extending weekly losses to about 3%.
Copper for December delivery added 0.8% to $3.5165 a pound, down 1.4% on the week.
