Vassilis Spanoulis explained at the press conference what happened and received a technical penalty in the last minute of the semi-final against Tenerife.
Peristeri bwin put in a huge effort, but failed to get the coveted ticket to the BCL Final Four as they lost to Tenerife 97-93.
Vassilis Spanoulis received a technical penalty 48″ before the final, which Kyle Guy converted into a point to make it 93-88. The Greek coach explained at the press conference what happened and was charged with a technical penalty by the referees.
Specifically, he stated:
“It was a foul that I just saw. You definitely can’t call that foul, I’ve been playing basketball for so many years. At 48” without Huertas trying to get an advantage, or go to the basket, you call that foul, which was Joe’s (ss. Ragland) fifth was tough. It was tough to give that foul. Everyone makes mistakes.
I complained to Manuel (sr. Mazzoni) about that whistle, I’m just saying you can’t give that foul, it’s a shame to give that foul at that point too. People want to see the fight. It’s a tough game, played by two great teams, it was too much for that point in the game.”
