“End” from Olympiakos by decision of Mendiliber

--

Who “finished” after Aris, the two that follow and the negotiations for the Greek midfielder to stay at Limani, but without the clause being paid. Top name on the way out…

Olympic: The season has entered its most crucial and exciting part, with Olympiakos remaining within the goals regarding the Championship (even if mathematically after the 1-1 with Aris) and Europe. Most importantly, the Red and Whites have finally found health in a…crazy season like this year’s, with Jose Luis Mendilibar correcting many of the wrongs in a very short period of time.

Vasco uses most of his players, giving roles to footballers who were considered “finished”, such as Ibora and Kini. However, there are some who have not been able to do accordingly, such as Jovane Cabral. The African was left out of the match against Aris and looks like he will not be counted on by his coach in the season finale.

Cabral is on loan to Olympiakos from Sporting Lisbon, but everything shows that the Piraeus will not seek to continue the partnership. Three million euros is the amount provided as a buyout clause, with the Reds unwilling to either pay that money or renegotiate with Sporting.

The same goes for Ruben Vezo. Medilibar’s decision to play in Thessaloniki again with Doi and not Vezo shows a lot about the hierarchy of the central defenders, as he has it in his mind. The Portuguese may have been acquired with the prospect of becoming a starter, but in practice he does not enjoy the confidence of his coach.

Alexandropoulos stays at Olympiakos

On the contrary, in Portugal it is widely written that Sotiris Alexandropoulos will continue at Olympiakos in the new season as well. The Piraeus are not expected to give the 4,000,000 euros of the buy-out, however unlike the case of Cabral, they are expected to start discussions with Sporting Lisbon from scratch. The Portuguese believe that the two teams will reach an agreement either for the extension of the loan or for the purchase of Alexandropoulos from Olympiakos for a lower amount. Of course, it remains to be seen whether their reports will be confirmed.

In Piraeus they also expect a return, although they would prefer the facts to be different. We are referring to Pep Biel, who will hardly last long in Augsburg. The Spaniard has not satisfied at all with the appearances he makes in Bundesliga, therefore the German team is not going to pay 5 million euros to turn the loan from Olympiakos into a purchase. Unless everything changes in the only 4 games left for its completion Bundesligaa possibility that gathers rather zero probabilities.

So, barring a shocking prospect, the Red and Whites will be called upon to find a solution to the Biel issue, which has developed into a “broke”. The player’s performances are not good enough to attract any satisfactory offer. Most likely, Olympiacos will either be asked to loan him again or sell him for a lower price than what they paid to buy him (6 million euros). There is also a more optimistic scenario, which predicts that Mendiliber will become the first coach to find the Spaniard’s “buttons”, helping him to finally bring out his quality on the field and giving him a role in the new roster.
