Corfu: Emotion and pride for the Olympic Flame – Photo report by CORFUTVNEWS.

Moments of emotion and pride were offered today by the Olympic Flame that was lit on our island as well, with our 6 athletes who carried it being applauded by the world.

She arrived by liner at the port of Corfu at 15:00, with a crowd of people wanting to be photographed before she started her journey to the center of the city.

The Flame was carried by distinguished Corfu athletes, including three Olympians:

• Arsenis Tsiminos, 2,000m Junior World Record Holder stippl.

• Anastasia MesimeriPWD has distinguished himself in swimming competitions.

• Charalambos TheodosisChampion in ice swimming.

• Ioanna BouziouOlympic champion in softball.

• Maria GeorgatouRhythmic Gymnastics Olympian.

• Spyros GianniotisOpen Sea Olympian.

The flame was transferred to the square and there the welcome ceremony took place, which began with the playing of the Olympic Anthem and the National Anthems of France and Greece, by a mixed music group of the four Philharmonics: the Old Philharmonic, the Philharmonic Society “Mantzaros”, the Philharmonic “Kapodistrias” ” and of the Philharmonic Society “Spyros Samaras” of Ano Korakiana.

This was followed by greetings from the Mayor of Central Corfu Stefanos Poulimenos, the representative of the French Embassy and the representative of the Hellenic Olympic Committee.
