Olympiacos have a total of seven loanees in their squad, most of whom have a buyout clause for next summer.

In the ranks of Olympiakos there are great quality players which have been acquired in the form of borrowing. In total the Red and Whites have seven loanees in total and of those the majority have purchase clauses. Essentially only with the case of Omar Richards is it not clear whether there is such a provision or not.

So let’s look at the loanees of the Olympiakos team by position…

DEFENSE: The defenders who are on loan to Olympiakos are stopper David Carmo and left back Omar Richards. Carmo has been acquired on loan from Porto with an option of 17.5 million euros for his purchase, while for the Englishman the British media had talked about his loan from Nottingham Forest without it being clear if there is a clause or not. Of these two defenders, Karmo is considered (and is) key.

CENTRE: Here are two player picks from the Portuguese market a few months apart. Alexandropoulos was acquired in the summer from Sporting Lisbon. The Greek international midfielder was granted a one-year loan from Sporting Lisbon with an option to buy at four million euros in the summer, where if activated, the Portuguese will retain a 10% resale percentage.

For Alexandropoulos, the fact that he is Greek and at a good age plays an important role. The other loanee is the Portuguese Andre Horta from Braga.

Horta has a loan deal with buyout at 6 million euros. An amount that Braga had set for the transfer of the player and according to the information from Portugal this will be his purchase option. So if Olympiacos chooses to keep him in the summer they will need to pay this amount to Braga, where the player belongs.

ATTACK: There are three loanees in the attack line. The most… shiny name is that of Daniel Pontense. The charismatic Portuguese star has been acquired by Wolves and the information from the summer spoke of an option around 5 million euros.

The other winger is Jovane Cabral who unlike Podense does not have much playing time. The experienced midfielder has been signed to the Piraeus club with an option at 3 million euros but also with a resale percentage for Sporting Lisbon from which he was acquired.

The third of the group is forward Fran Navarro. He was acquired from Porto and his option for the summer is set at 7.5 million euros.

Borrowers and their clauses

Carmo from Porto: 17.5 million euros
Horta from Braga: 6 million euros
Alexandropoulos from Sporting: €4m plus resale percentage
Pontense from Wolves: 5 million euros
Cabral from Sporting: €3m and resale percentage
Navarro from Porto: 7.5 million euros
