Tomas Walkup withdrew from today’s (22/4) Olympiacos training session due to back problems, two days before the crucial game against Barcelona for the EuroLeague playoffs (24/4, 22:00, Novasports 4, Match Center from SPORT24). Kostas Papanikolaou was also excluded from training due to a virus that is bothering him.

Alert for Olympiakos two days before Game 1 against Barcelona for the EuroLeague playoffs, as Tomas Walkup withdrew from today’s training session (22/4) due to back problems (24/4, 22:00, Novasports 4, Match Center from SPORT24).

Kostas Papanikolaou did not participate in the training either, as he is suffering from a virus, as reported by the red and white KAE in its update.

The EuroLeague playoffs start this week and Olympiacos have two very strong away games in Barcelona on Wednesday (24/4, 22:00) and Friday (26/4, 22:00).

Understandably, everyone’s mind is on the status of the two players as the clock ticks down to the start of the quarter-final series with the Blaugrana.

The Olympiakos delegation leaves for the Iberian Peninsula tomorrow at noon (23/4), i.e. the eve of Game 1 against the Spaniards.

Tomas Walkup is undoubtedly a mainstay in the roster of Giorgos Bartzokas’ team, as in addition to the 8.7 points, 3.1 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1.5 steals he offers on average in the EuroLeague, he also provides valuable help in the field of defense.

The experienced Olympiakos guard has missed just one game in European competition this season, that against Villeurbanne at the Peace and Friendship Stadium, where the Piraeus team prevailed 74-69.
