After his excellent presence in Monte Carlo and winning the title, Stefanos Tsitsipas also reached the final in Barcelona.

There, however, the curse of the ATP 500 tournaments “struck” the Greek tennis player again, who was defeated 2-0 in a set by Casper Rudd (5-7, 3-6) and remains without a cup in this category, having now 0/11 in finals at said level.

Stefanos Tsitsipas did not make it in the Barcelona final.

Although the Greek tennis player started the first set very well, his Norwegian opponent was able to reach the reversal and conquer it. In the second set, Rudd was better, breaking early and finally being able to finish the job, winning the tournament.

The start in the first set was excellent for Tsitsipas, who managed to break in the first game. He then held his serve for 2-0. The Greek tennis player took a 3-1 lead, but somewhere there Rude made his counterattack and with three straight games he equalized at 4-4, with the two tennis players shortly after reaching 5-5. The two remaining games went to the Norwegian, who with 7-5 made it 1-0 in sets.

The second set started with both opponents holding their serve in the first three games. But in the fourth quarter Rude made the break and led 4-1 taking the lead. The Norwegian then had no problem managing the game and with 6-3 reached the final 2-0 to take the title in Barcelona.

11/18 Tsitsipas in the finals

Tsitsipas, after 10 consecutive wins, was defeated by Kasper Ruud in the Barcelona final and now his record in the finals is 11/18. The Norwegian avenged the defeat in Monte Carlo and reached his 11th title.

Stefanos now turns his gaze to the next tournaments, specifically the Madrid and Rome Masters, with the clay season ending at the end of May with Roland Garros.
