Aris literally “suffocated” Buduchnost with his defense in the second half, conceding 24 points in that period and this was the “key” to the hugely important victory he achieved in Podgorica.
The hosts were getting to the basket of Yannis Kastritis’ team with… blood, with the yellow and black team winning one more game this year, through their excellent defensive function. The highlight, of course, was the last defense played by Bohorides on Wright, hiding the basket from the American ex-NBA player.
Aris allowed the Montenegrin champions to score 17 points in the third quarter and just seven in the fourth, after 39 in the first twenty minutes.
In the final period, Buduchnost players made only one field goal, by Ross, 8’16” before the end of the game and the rest of the points were scored on free throws.
Another awesome stat is that Mijovic’s players scored just three points in the final 8’16”, all on shots by Wright. The Aris players, relying on their amazing defense, managed to turn the game around and with 12-0 in the last period they completed the great turnaround.
