PAS Ioannina – Volos 1-1: Nobody liked the draw

The game between PAS Ioannina and Volos ended in a 1-1 draw in a result that did not affect either of the two teams in the last places of the standings.

It was the hosts who took the lead with the visitors equalizing while both goals of the match came in the second 45 minutes.

Each team had their intervals but neither could get the victory and both were left with six points in the last places of the standings.

The game was quite balanced between the two teams who had one goal each, the same xgoals, almost the same finals (12-13) and the same finals at home (3-3). So one could say that the draw came fairly at the end of the match.

Volos may have had a slight advantage and circulated the ball more, especially in the second 45 minutes, but on the other hand the Ioannina team was better in counterattacks and transition.

PAS Ioannina took the lead in the second half at 50′ with a very nice goal by Kiakos. On Soria’s cross from the right, the midfielder of the home team nicely placed his foot with the outside of the first post and beat Papadopoulos to make it 1-0.

Volos seemed surprised by the goal they conceded and tried to find the equalizing goal. He had two finals with Deletic and Cornet, but they did not find a goal.

Koba, who had come on as a substitute, equalized

Kostas Bratsos made three changes in 68′ and Volos increased their performance, kept the ball longer, started to press into the area and in 73′ managed to find the equalizing goal with a header from Koba who had passed as a game changer .

It was Luna who crossed from the left with Koba at the far post getting a header past Kleiman to make it 1-1 for Volos.

Two minutes later PAS could have taken the lead again when Conte found himself unmolested in the area following a cross from the right but the Spanish forward’s shot was wide of the mark.
