As of the middle of last week, Yiannis-Christos Kostoglou, born on June 27, 2009, agreed with Dortmund, signing a four-year contract, now becoming one of the highest paid 14-year-olds in Germany
It is said Giannis – Christos Kostoglou. On June 27, he will complete 14 years of life. A third of this has been spent in Germany with his family, a decision which was made so that he could develop his football talent there, in advanced conditions, which since then seemed special.
During this time, he went through various nursery teams (Rot Weiss Essen, Fortuna Dusseldorf), with Gladbach being the last of this continuous upward trajectory. A versatile left-footed midfielder, with the ability to shoulder any role in the midfield, he stood out in the relevant age leagues.
So much so that he became a bone of contention between the top German teams and Dortmund won the battle for his signature. In the middle of last week, the Westphalians paid the amount of the stipulated scholarships and acquired Kostoglou, who signed a four-year contract.
Further indicative of the talent, drive and belief in him is the financial aspect of the deal, as Dortmund have turned the 14-year-old midfielder into one of the highest-paid footballers of his age in Germany, while also being one of the measured in fingers of the two hands that at the given moment and at this age have – in addition to the rest – also a sponsorship agreement.
Last note: quite expectedly, the Germans at the level of national teams could not remain unmoved, since Kostoglou is firmly in the (corresponding to ours in Greece) echelons of the best in the country, just waiting for the formalization with the call for nasinonalmansaft u15, which is just a matter of time.
Unless we catch (them) for a rare time…
