Her life turned around Serena Williams.

A few months after her retirement from tennis, American girl champion decided to change the page in her religious beliefs as well.

In a special ceremony held on Sunday in Florida, specifically at the Assembly of Jehovah’s Witnesses in West Palm Beach, Serena was baptized a Jehovah’s Witness.

“Being a Jehovah’s Witness is important to me, but I had never really practiced it and wanted to get into it,” said Serena Williams, who grew up in a Jehovah’s Witness family.

Four years ago, she revealed that she would not celebrate her daughter’s first or any of her birthdays.

Serena was raised as a Jehovah’s Witness by her family. There are more than 9 million Witnesses worldwide.

For Jehovah’s Witnesses, in addition to rejecting the Christian doctrine of the Holy Trinity, it is forbidden to observe holidays such as Easter, Christmas, birthdays or any holiday of pagan origin.
