Trouble with Tom van Weert at AEK as the Dutch forward’s tests revealed a second-degree contusion, keeping him out for the next few weeks.
Matias Almeida may have had good news from Thursday’s morning training seeing Jens Jonsson now fully fit and participating in the regular program, but the Argentine coach also had an unpleasant one with Tom Van Weert to withdraw from training.
The 32-year-old Dutch forward AEK felt discomfort on the left quadriceps and did not complete the program resulting in an examination for fear of concussion. These unfortunately confirmed this concern as they showed that Van Weert suffered fracture and indeed second degree at that particular point.
That puts the Dutch striker out for the next few weeks. At least he will take advantage of the time until next week in the absence of competitive commitments in order to return as soon as possible.
We remind you that at the given moment he is out George Tzavellas due to the operation after the cut he had on his hand, while Costas Galanopoulos and Steven Zuber are performing individual, but are expected to return to a regular schedule soon.
