In a leisurely pace, Serbia swept the Netherlands 100-76 in Prague in the opening of the fourth group of Eurobasket and started with the “right” the attempt to reach the final of the competition, showing that it always remains one of the strong teams of the major competitions .

The “Plavi” at times reached double-digit differences, Svetislav Pesic found the opportunity to use all his players and in the fourth period the loose defenses brought the final score.

Leading the winners were Jokic with 19 points, Marinkovic with 18 points, Micic with 15 points and 12 assists and Ristic with 11 points.

For the “Oranie”, De Jong did his best with 28 points, supported by De Vries with 11 points.

The Serbs found the solutions and with Jokic having a “party” on both rackets he took the small lead and the regional players with the long shots made it 13-4 with the “crescendo” of Micic. The Dutch were having trouble inside the racket and Jokic started to get the ball back in and score, keeping the Blues up +6 to +8. Kalidis and Marinkovic brought +9 and +11. Edwards was trying for the “Oranie” during this period, but the many solutions of Svetislav Pesic, who threw his substitutes on the floor, brought +10 at the end of the first period.

The Serbian substitutes went on a 7-0 run at the start of the second period and +17 at the start of the second period. De Vries went on a personal 5-0 run to reduce it to -12 for the Dutch and bad choices on both sides kept the score at that level. Goodrich brought +14, but Clough took matters into his own hands and reduced it to -9. The “heavy cards” returned for Pesic and +14, the Dutch again reduced to -9 with a 5-0 run, but the guards of the “plavi” with personal actions brought +13 at the end of the first half, with the two teams to have good two-point percentages and the Serbians four more rebounds.

The Dutch found some solutions early in the third period and went on a 5-0 run to cut it to 51-45 on poor Serbian defense that only scored from long shots in that period. But Lucic starred in a 9-0 Plavi run for +14, Jokic’s 3-pointer kept the score at that level and the Serbian’s many offensive options made it +15 at the quarter.

An 8-0 Dutch lead early in the fourth period was cut to -8, but the Serbian substitutes’ 5-0 run gave Svetislav Pesic’s men a double-digit lead. Ristic and Davidovac kept the Serbs aggressive in this period, with Marinkovic and Micic bringing +20, with the first to make it 97-74. Nedovic brought the lead for the Serbs and the match ended 100-76.
