The Permanent Representative of Greece to the Alliance made a “strict protest march” to the Secretary General of NATO for the posting of the NATO Ground Forces Headquarters, which is based in Izmir, which in essence congratulates Turkey for the Asia Minor Disaster.

“Following a post by the NATO Land Forces Headquarters, which is based in Izmir, regarding the day of the Turkish Armed Forces, the Permanent Representative of Greece to NATO made a strict protest to the Secretary General of NATO, stressing that the said post beyond it is out of place and unacceptable”, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs states in its relevant announcement.

He adds that “at the same time, the Greek military authorities in NATO will make a similar representation at the Supreme Headquarters of NATO (SHAPE), to which the Headquarters of the Ground Forces also belongs.”

In the controversial post by the NATO Land Forces Headquarters on Tuesday, it hailed the “100th Anniversary of Turkish Independence” adding that “We join our Turkish Allies in NATO and beyond in celebrating their Victory and Turkish Armed Forces Day.”
