Incredible incident: A deputy mayor in Greece was dragging a donkey with a vehicle

Unprecedented for the region is the event with the wild torture of a donkey in Grammeno of the Municipality of Zitsa in Ioannina.

The Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Zitsa was dragging a donkey for about a kilometer with his farm car, subjecting the animal to incredible torture.

The 63-year-old was arrested at the house where he lives and then taken to the Zitsa Police Station.

According to the first information, he claims that he did not abuse the animal and that it was an accident.

In fact, he told the police that he was dragging the unfortunate animal with his car, without realizing it.

The village street was filled with blood and residents rushed to stop him and scold him.

The animal, suffering and with wounds, remained for a while on the side of the road, and then it seems that he removed it himself.

Disturbance prevailed in the village, the Police and animal welfare organizations were called.

On the occasion of the incident, the municipal faction “Self-Governing Cooperation” of the municipality of Zitsa states in its announcement, among other things:

“We declare that we are shocked by the shameful images that have seen the light of day and concern the brutal behavior of the Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Zitsa towards an animal in the area of ​​Grammenochoria.

We cannot even imagine that he was dragging the live (donkey) in his farm car torturing it beyond belief by filling the road with blood from the tortured animal.

We express our anger and indignation at this atrocity.

We congratulate the residents of T.K Grammenou and the media of our prefecture for publicizing the issue and raising their awareness. Such behaviors cannot and should not go unpunished.

We require immediately:

• The care of the animal by the competent services and full information about its fate.

• From the Mayor of Zitsa, Mr. Michalis Pliakos, the immediate dismissal of the specific self-governing “person” from the position of Deputy Mayor of Zitsa.

• From the members of the majority faction and Mr. Dimarchos, his deletion from their Municipal group.

• From the Decentralized Administration to do the necessary for his dismissal from the Municipal Council of the Municipality of Zitsa and of course

• Direct intervention from justice.

In any case, any obstruction to the consequences of the above atrocity both by the Municipal authority and Mr. Mayor, but also by all the competent bodies, is considered an attempt to cover up the heinous act and makes them complicit.
