Unstable weather is forecast for today Saturday, which is expected to continue during Holy Week.

In particular, sparse clouds are expected in places, denser mainly in the midday and afternoon hours, when local rains will occur in the western and northern mountains. From the afternoon, generally clear weather is expected in most of the country.

Locally limited visibility in the morning hours in the west.

Winds will blow from north directions 3 to 5 and gradually from noon to Aegean 6 and locally to 7 Beaufort.

The temperature will reach most areas of 24 to 25 degrees and locally in the eastern continental 26 degrees Celsius.

ATTICA

Weather: Sparse clouds in places, denser in the morning hours and generally clear from midday.

Winds: Northerly 3 to 4, noon 4 to 5 and easterly to 6 Beaufort.

Temperature: From 12 to 25 degrees Celsius. In the east the maximum 2 to 3 degrees lower.

THESSALONIKI

Weather: Scattered clouds temporarily thicker until noon and gradually generally clear.

Winds: Variable 2 to 3 and mid-afternoon temporary southerly to 4 Beaufort.

Temperature: From 12 to 23 degrees Celsius.

MACEDONIA, THRACE

Weather: A few clouds temporarily increased in the mountains in the afternoon hours, where there will be local rain.

Winds: Variable 2 to 4 Beaufort.

Temperature: Up to 23 degrees and in western Macedonia up to 18 degrees Celsius.

IONIAN ISLANDS, EPIROS, WEST STEREA, WEST PELOPONNISOS

Weather: A few clouds temporarily increasing in the afternoon hours, so there will be local rain mainly in the highlands of Epirus and western Mainland.

Winds: From west directions 2 to 4 Beaufort.

Temperature: Up to 23 degrees and in the interior of Epirus up to 18 degrees Celsius.

EASTERN STEREA, EVIA, EASTERN PELOPONNISOS

Weather: Generally clear with a few temporary clouds in the afternoon.

Winds: Variable 2 to 4 Beaufort and south westerlies with the same intensity.

Temperature: Up to 25 degrees Celsius.

CYCLADES, CRETE

Weather: Generally clear.

Winds: West Northwest 3 to 5 Beaufort.

Temperature: Up to 23 degrees Celsius.

EAST AEGEAN ISLANDS – DODECANISE

Weather: Generally clear with a few temporary clouds in the afternoon in the north.

Winds: West northwest 3 to 5 and in the Dodecanese locally up to 6 Beaufort.

Temperature: Up to 23 degrees Celsius.

THESSALY

Weather: Generally clear with a few temporary clouds in the afternoon hours in the continental areas.

Winds: Variable 2 to 4 Beaufort.

Temperature: Up to 25 degrees Celsius.

FORECAST FOR SUNDAY (OF BAIOS) 04-28-2024

Generally clear weather. In the midday and afternoon hours, local clouds will develop temporarily in the northeastern continental areas.
The winds will blow in the west east northeast 3 to 5 and in the east north 4 to 6 and in the Aegean 6 to 7 Beaufort.
The temperature will rise slightly in western Greece and Macedonia and will reach the Ionian Islands and their mainland 24 to 26 and the rest of the island regions 22 degrees Celsius.

FORECAST FOR HOLY MONDAY 04-29-2024

Generally clear weather with a few local clouds in the eastern mainland, the Cyclades and northern Crete.
Winds will blow in the west east northeast 4 to 6 and in the east north northeast 5 to 7 and locally, mainly in the Aegean, 8 Beaufort.

On Maundy Monday and Maundy Tuesday, according to EMY, weather conditions will prevail that favor the transport of African dust. Otherwise, weather conditions will be good, but with local instability throughout the week.

FORECAST FOR HOLY TUESDAY 04-30-2024

Generally clear weather in most areas. In Crete, clouds are predicted to temporarily increase with the possibility of local rains or showers.

Winds will blow in the west east 4 to 5 and in the east north 6 to 8 Beaufort.

The temperature will not change appreciably.

FORECAST FOR HOLY WEDNESDAY 01-05-2024

Scattered clouds temporarily thicker in the morning in the west and from noon in the east.

The winds will be weak in the west, while in the east they will blow from north directions 4 to 6 and locally in the Aegean 7 Beaufort.

The temperature will drop slightly.

Unsettled weather conditions at the end of Holy Week

As Clearchos Marousakis reports, in the next few days strong northerly winds will prevail in the Aegean and no change is expected until Sunday. At the beginning of Holy Week, there will be some disturbances in Thrace, with some rain and storms, while the phenomena will also extend to the west until the middle of next week. At the same time, the temperature will rise to 24-27 degrees Celsius.

From Maundy Thursday the weather will present some disturbances. At the end of Holy Week, including Easter Sunday, they are most likely to occur mainly in western, central and northern Greece. In those areas, it is not excluded that showers and local storms will occur, mainly at noon and in the afternoon.

The first estimates for Easter

Clearchos Marousakis gave a first glimpse of what to expect, with conditions remaining unsettled. In particular, he said: “Maundy Thursday until Easter Monday, it is very likely that we will encounter unsettled weather conditions mainly in the west, central and north and especially midday and afternoon hours when we may have storms and showers”.

Specifically, the areas that will be affected are:

  • Ionian
  • Western mainland Greece
  • Western and central Mainland
  • Macedonia
  • Thrace

At the same time, Giorgos Tsatrafillias’ first assessment for the next few days until Easter Sunday is that the weather will be rainy and there will be a drop in temperature.
