Thriller in San Francisco: 16-year-old heiress Meade Butterfield has disappeared – What the Authorities are afraid of – Newsbomb – News

The 16-year-old heir to a $1.6 billion tech fortune dollars is missing and is feared to be in one of San Francisco’s most notorious and dangerous neighborhoods. Mead, the daughter of wealthy businessman Stuart Butterfield, was last seen on Sunday night around 10pm in Bolinas, California and was reported missing by her mother the following morning.

The teenager attends a private boarding school in nearby Napa Valley and is now feared to be in the city’s notorious Tenderloin neighborhood. The Marin County Sheriff’s Office released one missing person flyer with Mead’s photo on the Nextdoor social media platform on Tuesday.

Supervisor Matt Dorsey shared the flyer on Platform X and revealed that Mead is reportedly located in the Tenderloin neighborhood, which for decades has been synonymous with drug abuse, crime and homelessness.

According to the San Francisco Standard, Mid has a history of substance abuse and is known to frequent the Tenderloin. Police have not yet said whether she went there voluntarily or if there is any indication she is being held against her will. The teenager was last seen wearing a black sweatshirt, flannel pants and black boots. She is described as having brown/reddish curly hair and pierced eyebrows.

Located in downtown San Francisco, the Tenderloin has a reputation for crime and has some of the highest levels of homelessness and illegal activity in the crime-ridden city. It is the center of the fentanyl crisis plaguing San Francisco. The miserable conditions, homelessness, crime, the illegal drug tradeprostitution and strip clubs give the neighborhood a sinister reputation.

Mid’s father, co-founded the messaging app Slack and is currently worth $1.6 billion. Slack was acquired by Salesforce in 2021 for $28 billion, and Butterfield left the company in 2022.

Her mother is Katerina Feik, who started the creation of the Flickr service with her then partner, Butterfly. They sold the image-hosting site to Yahoo in 2005. The couple married in 2001 and stayed together until 2007, when their daughter Mid was born.

Butterfield has since married Jen Rubio, co-founder of Away – an American luggage and travel accessories brand, and the couple have two young children. Fake is now in a relationship with Jaiku co-founder Jiri Engstrom and they have three children together.

At the time of her disappearance, Mead was living with her mother and attending a private boarding school in the Napa area, according to the sheriff’s office. In 2021, Butterfield bought a $31.7 million mansion in Aspen, Colorado. Located in the exclusive Five Trees neighborhood, the residence sits on a five-acre estate overlooking the Castle Creek Valley.

According to the listing, the property features a gym, state-of-the-art home theater, a second entertainment area with bar and pool table, a 500-bottle wine cellar, tasting room, various separate gathering spaces, six en-suite bedrooms and a three-car garage. Butterfield also owns a $19 million home in San Francisco, which has seven bedrooms, eight bathrooms and is located in the upscale Presidio Heights neighborhood

American journalist Yshar Ali pleaded with his followers on X for help in the search for Meade, saying “I don’t often ask for your help but I need it now… my girlfriend of 16 years is missing. “Please spread the word and if you have any information on their whereabouts please call the number on this leaflet”
