A video is making the rounds online showing a 213-meter-long cruise ship crashing its bow into the concrete pier in the port of Kusadasi, Turkey, after several attempts to slow down.
According to the Daily Mail, the crew misjudged the speed and approached the jetty too quickly, resulting in the collision. Before the collision the crew members reportedly lowered the anchor to slow down, but despite their efforts the ship struck the wharf.

It all happened last week on Monday at 12pm when the crew misjudged the speed and approached the jetty too fast, resulting in the collision, Cruise Hive reported.

The impact caused only minor damage to the ship and pier. No injuries were reported on board or ashore. According to Cruise Hive, passengers were able to enjoy their day in Kusadasi, one of the most well-preserved Greco-Roman cities in the world, as planned.

The port, which has eight berths for large ships, is the most popular cruise port in Turkey. Officials say the incident has no negative impact on business.
Celestyal Cruises, which operates the vessel and two other ships, did not have to change any routes after the incident. Upon arrival at her new port in Doha, Celestyal Journey will offer seven nights with a return trip to the UAE.
What a representative of the shipping company said
A spokesperson for Celestyal Cruises said: “Celestyal Journey experienced a minor incident while docked in Kusadasi, Turkey. The bottom of the ship came into contact with a ferry ramp located in the harbor.
He added that “No injuries have been reported on board or ashore and the ship has not been damaged. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the incident. The Celestyal Journey continued on its way to Crete as scheduled.”
