Vigorous reactions were caused by the statement of the candidate of the European Parliament of the New Democracy, Vickys Flessa about Tempi that “we killed the children all together”. Speaking at an event of the Association of People with Multiple Sclerosis, Vicky Flessa, referring to the train tragedy in Tempi, argued:
“The whole state is sick. We killed the children all together. This is my opinion”. And she continued: “Just like in Mati, we burned them all together. This is my opinion. It has nothing to do with any prime minister or any government.”
Fierce political reactions
Naturally, the statement of the ND MEP candidate provoked a strong reaction from the opposition parties. “The convenient for the government, however cynical, concept of “collective responsibility” adopted by Mrs. Flessa exceeds the endurance limits of Greek society”, reports SYRIZA – PS.

“The unacceptable claim of the ND MEP candidate, Mr. V. Flessa, about the crime in Tempi, that “the whole state is sick. We killed the children all together,” affirms that every aspect of ND’s involvement in this tragedy leads to cover-up, provocation and infamy.
The attempt of the ND candidate to defend the government of Mr. Mitsotakis and to “wash” it of specific responsibilities of specific executives, which are not limited to the tragedy itself, but also to everything that followed and is constantly being revealed, constitutes a profound insult to the relatives of the victims, who put up a great fight for justice.
The convenient for the government, however cynical, concept of “collective responsibility” adopted by Mrs. Flessa exceeds the limits of endurance of the Greek society, which fully shares the anguish of the relatives for justice and supports their struggle.
The president of SYRIZA, Stefanos Kasselakis, also referred to Mrs. Flessa’s statement, stressing in his post that “when the ND MEP candidate Vicky Flessa makes the chilling statement “we killed the children in Tempi all together”, the spineless partners Adonis Georgiadis and New Left are trying to change the agenda by distorting my statement on Health”.
KKE: Flessa’s statements are unacceptable
