The interview of Stefanos Kasselakis is live on OPEN

--

The president of SYRIZA gave a full interview, Stefanos Kasselakis on OPEN and the show “Hour of Greece”.

First, referring to the tour of the islands and problems which has locatestates:

Health, transportation, education are the main problems. Apart from these, we also have a big issue with waste and issues with urban planning, development. But the most important thing is health. We have huge problems in the NHS across the country, which is going to become de facto private with the ND positions on health. But here the problem is more acute, because they are understaffed (the hospitals). We made an amendment about two weeks ago to bring doctors and nurses to the islands, with a premium of 1,000 euros for each doctor and nurse, with help with the roof, in the purchase of the first residence if they stay for 5 years (…). All this and the bonus cost 35 million euros. It is 1 euro per night per tourist. With one euro we could make a big difference in health on the islands. ND rejected this proposal”, he emphasized.

“The government gives very little money for health”

The government gives very little money. How will someone pay their rent in Paros or Mykonos?”, he asked, pointing out that “there must be a housing program, a permanent solution and a brave hospital staffing program”.

As he pointed out, the doctors and nurses have honor and thanked them for their contribution.

For in the afternoons surgeries said that “we will not leave health to be one offshoot of capitalism. Health is public and should be for everyone.”

He also points out that “we spend a lot of money to study and train doctors and they leave Greece. We need to invest in public health. And you have the guarantee that when we become a government the first priority will be the welfare state. To really have public health.”

Then he made an “ass-tumble” of Kyriakos Mitsotakis on the issue of remote education on the islands. “If we don’t invest in health and education, what are we doing as a country?”, he asked.

Actually

For her issue accuracy and what measures would be taken by SYRIZA as a government, Mr. Kasselakis answered: “The ND before the elections said that accuracy is imported. So did Mr. Mitsotakis lie about this when after the elections he says that the country is a banana? But it’s not the first time he’s lied. And about the commercial train and its cargo he lied before the election, and the tax cuts he lied about. There is a system he has set up with his propaganda and machinery that does not present these. It may currently put a ceiling on the profitability of the stream. We recommend 5%, it doesn’t. There can be a limit to electricity, it is a public good and ND chooses the very small oligopoly.”

He then stated “how come from field to shelf neither the farmer nor the consumer can survive?”.

“We have actually proposed, whatever companies are making a profit to have one system of Tiresia. When they receive a fine they will not have any work with the public for 5 years. Why doesn’t ND do this? It does not want to face accuracy because there are vested interests that fund its structure. The most basic thing he could do is zero VAT on bread and milk.”

For criticisms of the government that the SYRIZA program is not costed, he replied: “What will the government say, something positive? How has SYRIZA changed, has it produced a clear cost estimate?”. He also pointed out that the party has created a “innovative tax framework which makes perfect sense. When I analyze it and CEOs in Greece say ‘yes, that makes sense’. And ND is telling us that we don’t know what we are talking about?”

“We build our program every day. We will also submit legislative proposals to the Parliament so that the Greek woman and the Greek man know what will become the law of the state when we become a government”.

“We claim the first place”

Regarding the plans of SYRIZA, Mr. Kasselakis said that “the official opposition’s position is to claim government and change the place. So we claim the first place. From here on, we are changing the structures of our party to be open to the whole progressive world.”

“Nails” to the ND MP in Drama and Eleonora Meleti

Then, he dropped his nails, saying: “For those who are in the ND as a progressive center, what do they think of their MP, of Drama who calls me masculine and feminine and Mr. Mitsotakis does not expel him? What do they think when at ND’s euro ballot paper includes Kasidiaris’ anthem; I assure you that the progressive center has a place in SYRIZA. That is his natural position.”

“The ND is a truly pluralist party, but towards the extreme right and we choose the center and the left,” he commented.

“The extreme right and the neo-Nazis have no contact with SYRIZA”

On the subject of Spartans he said “I tell you very clearly that the extreme right, the neo-Nazis, have no role, no contact with SYRIZA. They are very contrary to our values. We are the society that in history has fought against fascism and we are not going to apologize for anything. Others are the ones who watch neo-Nazis at train stations with guns and do nothing.” He also emphasized that he does not want the voters of the Spartans.

“Who gave the order for the rampage at Tempe?”

The president of SYRIZA also referred to the case of Tempi, saying: “Who gave the order for the lynching? Who gave the order to move these bones that are 2 meters underground? Will someone tell me? Has the government spokesperson responded? No. Someone gave an order and we want to know who that someone is. The government denies the truth and refuses to send Mr. Karamanlis to justice. At the first opportunity this ministerial immunity law goes away. Politicians should finally be equal citizens before the law.”

“I will go to church on Easter”

When asked if he will go to church during Holy Week, Mr. Kasselakis replied “I will go. In Corfu is my intention. ‘I have clearly said that I believe, I do not trade my faith, I respect the faith of each of my fellow citizens and those who are atheists. I want everyone to live in a society that respects everyone’s freedom.”

He also said: “I feel that we have become a society of individual responsibility and get-rich-quick. We lack leftist solidarity, collective responsibility. I would like us to find a way to come together as a society and inspire young people to get involved in politics, in activism».

“I see a lot of people who regret the last election”

Alongside, respondent if the ND is not doing well European electionsSYRIZA will call for elections immediately, Mr. Kasselakis replied: “I have already called for elections because I think that the way in which the government was elected he was set up in a lie. They rigged the fence in Evros, a month after Tempi to change the agenda. It would be good to re-weigh. I see a trend in society, I see a lot of people who have regretted the last election. There is a very good chance that we will exceed 20%. The arrogance in the glass tower they are in must stop. Obviously he has to decide when, but at least let’s end this arrogance.”

In addition, talk to me positive words for Zoe Konstantopoulou, excluding, however, cooperation with Freedom Sailing.

Finally, he said he would make it public his property status before them European elections.
