Sofoklis Schortsanitis wore the jersey of Maccabi Tel Aviv and Panathinaikos and could not help commenting on the series between the two teams in the Euroleague playoffs.
Speaking to Israel’s one.co.il, the veteran center, Sofocles Schorsanitis, did not hide that he would like – because of the war – for Maccabi to go to the Final Four of the Euroleague, but added that Panathinaikos will objectively qualify.
In detail, Sofocles Schorsanitis spoke:
– the match ups that will decide the series: “Maccabi have Baldwin, Brown and Blatt on the perimeter, but they have a difficult task to stop Sluka, who is in great form and is trusted by his team. Also Mitoglou and Juancho play very well in ‘4’. And of course there is Nan who is a terrific goalscorer. Maccabi will have to give 100% in all five matches.”
– the Nann-Baldwin duel and their social media feud: “They are both great scorers. It’s hard to tell. When I was playing, I didn’t talk much before the games.”
-the fact that Maccabi has no headquarters: “It’s sad, because Maccabi needs its people.”
-his prediction for the series: “If I speak objectively and as I think about it, Panathinaikos will qualify because they have the seat, but what I really want is for them to win a match at OAKA and take the series (laughs). It will be important for the fans with what happened this year with the war to go to the Final 4.”
– the career of Spanoulis as a coach: “She is excellent. He is also a coach in the National team, which excites us all. Everyone wants to help. He will go to the BCL Final 4 as coach of Peristeri bwin and I wish him the best.”
-whether he would become a coach himself: “No, no (laughs). I don’t think there is any reason for him to become a coach. First, because the pressure and working hours are crazy. I’m happy to be home with my children.”
