The legendary kids of Olympiakos made history and were crowned European champions, winning with an impressive 3-0 win over Milan in the Youth League final. First Greek team in history to achieve such a thing. Mission to Nyon, Costas Augustakis.

History was made in Nyon, the Youth of Olympiakos achieved a feat that they will remember throughout their lives and future generations will remember. The U19 of Olympiakos climbed to the top of Europe. The magical children of Silaidopoulos turned Milan into wings and wings, won 3-0 against the Rossoneri and lifted the UEFA Youth Laegue cup. First cup for any Greek team at UEFA club level.

Olympiacos hit like a “storm”. In the 60th minute Mouzakitis was on target with a penalty kick, a minute later Papakanellos danced around Milan’s defense and from a very difficult angle from the right made the shot for 2-0.

The match

Olympiacos was the one that entered the game more strongly with Babis Kostoula being particularly active. In the 3rd minute he stole the ball, fed Pneumonidis, who with his shot could not beat the Milan goalkeeper. The Rossoneri didn’t have many chances in the first half. One of them a shot by Stalmach that stopped in the bodies.

A minute later the red and whites were particularly threatening. Pneumonidis made the advance from the left, fed Papakanellos in the area, but he did not find the target for a while. The pace then dropped.

Olympiacos pressed high, trying to take advantage of mistakes, with Milan for their part remaining inactive, especially in attack with their big star Camarda not threatening Angelo Sina. In the 38th minute, the red and whites came close again, with Bakula shooting into the area, but weakly at the Milan goalkeeper.

Although it was Milan who came out strong in the second half with a fine shot by Scotty and an even finer save by Sina, the red and whites had a magical two minutes. In the 58th minute, Papakanellos crossed from the left, Kostoulas took the header, the ball found a Milan player and he protested for a hand. The referee was alerted and went to see it on the monitor. The decision; Penalty. Mouzakitis in the 60th minute was on target and made it 1-0.

Olympiacos hit like a storm in the 61st minute as well. As in Munich, Papakanellos danced around Milan’s defense and from a very difficult angle from the right made the shot and found the net for the red and whites’ 2-0.

The red and whites also produced… sweet. Bakulas scored a third goal for the red and whites in the 66th minute of the match with an inverted scissors kick from the left, after a cross from Koutsogoulas.

From there on, Sina took action, who with his interventions kept the red and white home intact, no matter how much Milan tried to get back into the match. In fact, Olympiacos, in the counter-attacks, had phases for a 4th goal, with Kostoulas.

The final whistle found the Olympiakos players furiously celebrating their historic success and the team’s friends in the stands setting up a party, deifying the triumphs of Sotiris Syllaidopoulos.
