Olympiacos: Abi is the new… terminator of his defense! (vids)

The young Englishman is currently the most promising project of the Olympiakos defense and this was clearly seen in the derby with PAOK.

Nelson Abi at the age of 20 is one of the most sought-after transfer cases of Olympiakos. Through his network in England it was acquired quickly and as a very good investment.

And the left-footed Abi may have played a little at Olympiakos but he has managed to show us all his good elements. Aggressive, fast, doesn’t give up phases, doesn’t make mistakes easily and with the ability to help in passing the ball towards the attack.

At Olympiakos, the 20-year-old… terminator of his defense he has played in just 3 matches. In these three matches against Volos, Lamia and PAOK, Olympiacos has conceded 2 goals and scored 10 goals in total against its opponents.

Abi in the derby with PAOK won most of the duels he gave. Some in the first year and others in the second with him not letting go of the phase and persevering. Both Abi and Retsos, especially in the first part, for a long time “disappeared” players like Zivkovic and Tomas and in general the dangerous players of PAOK.

Based on the League’s official stats, he made just 1 mistake, which was the smallest number of Piraeus defenders in the match against PAOK and the smallest in the whole team (along with Ibora who also had only 1 error and Vezos and Masoura who came off the bench and also had 1 error each ). He also had 3 surgeries and 1 foul in 98 minutes of his presence.

All in all, of course, what counts is that even though he goes with great momentum (and with a competitive swagger) and speed many times over the stages, he doesn’t easily make mistakes and generally – as we mentioned above – he doesn’t make big mistakes. Something that was also true in the derby with PAOK, which was the first big and difficult match that he was anointed as a starter for Olympiacos and he coped very well with his defensive duties. In the end we remember how he played with a trio in defense together with Retso and Vezo.
