The alarm that sounded on Sunday afternoon (21/4) to the Fire Department and EMAK to locate a group of German mountaineers, which did not appear at the place where they had an appointment with their guide, has ended.

They are 12 Germans who had started hiking from Lake Pigon Aoos in the direction of Vovousa.

The climbers had an appointment at a certain point with a guide, who was waiting for them but they did not show up, according to EpirusPost.

Thus, he informed the Fire Department and immediately launched an operation to locate them.

Mobilization to locate them

As reported by the newspaper “Iphirotikos Agon”, a vehicle with two people from the Metsovo Fire Brigade, a vehicle with two people from the Miliotades Fire Brigade and a vehicle with three people from the 5th EMAK were mobilized.

In the end, due to the weather conditions prevailing in the area, they needed more time than estimated to complete the route.

So they arrived late and the operation ended. Everyone is in good health.
