A Greek fan of AEK was arrested today. He had voluntarily gone to testify in the case of the murder of Michalis Katsouris in the events of August 7, caused by Croatian hooligans and their Greek accomplices outside the AEK stadium in New Philadelphia.

According to police sources, the 35-year-old (born in 1988) had been sentenced to one year in prison for incidents at a football match in May 2017 in Volos. Conviction which appeared a few days ago on the police computers as a result of which he was identified and arrested today.

As it became known, he had voluntarily testified to the investigator dealing with the investigation of the case, because he was present at the events in New Philadelphia and wanted to help in the investigations.

It was not immediately established that a conviction was pending against him by the Three-member Court of Misdemeanors of Volos for the incidents between AEK and PAOK fans, without suspension.

After his arrest, he was taken to Nafplio prisons to serve his sentence.

The police sources who spoke to “Ef.Syn.” clarify that no arrest warrant has been issued against him for the case of the murder of Michalis Katsouris, nor has a sample of biological material been taken from the 35-year-old.
