Road accident with a dead baby in Volos: It is the grandfather’s fault that I lost control of the machine, says the 33-year-old driver

The 53-year-old grandfather who was holding his 4-month-old granddaughter in his arms was swept away by a car in Volos and the whole country, resulting in the tragic death of the baby.

Although the doctors fought to keep the child alive, they did not succeed. Scenes of ancient tragedy unfolded at the hospital as a family moment – they had all gone out for coffee – turned into an absolute nightmare.

The grandfather was thrown, says the driver, he was maneuvering ahead of time, says an eyewitness

The 33-year-old passed the investigator’s door yesterday and was given a deadline to apologize on Tuesday. According to the local website gegonota.news, the young driver claimed to the competent investigator that he maneuvered to avoid the 53-year-old who was thrown in front of him, as a result of which he was swept away, lost control of the machine, overturned and crashed into a parked vehicle .

However, according to ERT, there is a witness who reports that he saw the driver in question maneuvering on Iasonos Street, long before he reached the fatal point of the traffic accident.

The driver was tested for alcohol consumption, but the results are not yet known.

After dragging the grandfather with his granddaughter, he was left injured on the asphalt, while the machine without the rider started for another 70-100 meters from the scene of the tragic event.

The 53-year-old grandfather was sitting with his wife in a restaurant on Antonopoulou Street. After a while, his daughter, son-in-law and his 4-month-old granddaughter arrived. So even wanting to help, he went and took the baby, without his stroller and while crossing their path, the car ran over him.

In the sudden and tragic event, the parents of the unfortunate infant and his grandmother were also present, who took the infant in her arms and entered a taxi that had stopped to see what was happening and they left for the hospital. There the mobilization was huge but as it was seen the blows of the baby were overwhelming.
