Moments of terror were experienced by the drivers and occupants of 4 vehicles that were in motion on the National Highway of Crete at the height of the Heraklion airport when strangers threw stones at them and disappeared.

The stone throwing incidents they took place, with a difference of a few hours between them, at approximately the same point on the National Road shortly before the Heraklion airport interchange, as reported by cretalive.gr.

Four vehicles were targeted by the unknown assailants, two tourist buses, a farm van and a taxi in which there were also passengers.

The driver of one of the vehicles, speaking to Cretalive, said he was on the move when he realized that some started pelting stones at his vehicle. The driver pointed out that the stones fell from one point near the Roma camp where there is an area. In fact, he pointed out that one of the stones hit the windshield of his vehicle and broke it.

The drivers of the two coaches and the taxi filed lawsuits against strangers about the incidents and as they stated in their complaints to the authorities, they speculate that the perpetrators are Roma minors.

This extremely dangerous and morbid phenomenon it has been repeated several times terrorizing unsuspecting drivers and vehicle occupants who suddenly receive the stones.

Since yesterday’s incident there were no injuries. Regarding the material damages caused, the driver of a tourist bus determined that the damage reaches 3,000 euros, while the taxi driver reported that the damage amounts to 2,500 euros. The driver of the second bus did not assess the damage caused by the stones.

The preliminary investigation of the case has been undertaken by the First Police Department of Heraklion.
