The recent state of affairs in Iran and the violation of human rights, combined with what preceded the armband for LGBTI+ people brought the international reaction to the grass, seconds before the England-Iran match.
Iran’s players remained silent during the standing ovation of their country’s national anthem, wanting in this way to protest what has been unfolding in the country lately. In fact, some fans booed the anthem from the stadium stands.
A little later, the England players also showed their reaction, kneeling on the pitch.
