He announced Jose Anigo as the new director of football

Jose Anigo will be the new football director of Olympiakos as the red and whites announced on Wednesday (21/09), with the 61-year-old Frenchman also retaining his role as director of the Piraeus academy.

Olympiacos is preparing to officially present Mitchell as its new coach (at 15:15 Vangelis Marinakis will “introduce” him to the press shortly before the start of his second term at the big port), but a little earlier he proceeded to one more important placement in terms of its organizational chart.

This has to do with Jose Anigo, who, in addition to being the director of the Olympiacos Academy, will take on another important role, that of the club’s director of football.

Olympiakos’ announcement in detail:

“PAE Olympiacos announces that Jose Anigo takes over the position of Director of Football.

Anigo, alongside his new role, remains the director of the Olympiakos Academy and will link the operation of the first team, the second team and the infrastructure departments.

The 61-year-old Frenchman is associated with Marseille, where he first worked as a back-up coach, guiding the likes of Samir Nasri, Seydou Keita, Mathieu Flamini, Andre and Jordan Ayew.

Then as coach of the first team he led them in 2004 to the final of the UEFA Cup and as director of the football department in one championship, three cups, five appearances in the Champions League and four in UEFA, having worked with players such as Drogba, Ribery, Valbuena, Ben Arfa, Bartez and Mandada.

He has coached several teams as a head coach, while in October 2019 he took over as head of scouting for Nottingham Forest.”
